The Institute of Applied Geometry (www.ag.jku.at) of the Johannes Kepler University, Linz/Austria, is looking for a research assistant (PhD student, fixed-term contract for up to 3 years).

The position is part of the international network project ”Refinable Freeform Splines with Theoretical Guarantees for their Approximation Power via Polynomial Reproduction”, involving INRIA center at Université Cote d’Azur and Applied Geometry at JKU. The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue a PhD.

Applicants are encouraged to apply if they have a strong background in at least one of the areas of geometric modelling and numerical analysis. Expertise on Computational Geometry is particularly welcome.

A master-equivalent degree in mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field is required. The working language is English.

The city of Linz, Austria's third largest city with a population of 210,000, is located on the Danube, 80 km from the Austrian Alps.

The yearly gross salary in accordance with the collective agreement amounts to \EUR 37.577,40 (as of 2024) for a Ph.D. student (working time 30 hours/week).
