Our Center for Energy located in Vienna is looking for new Ingenious Partners. At the Center for Energy we develop sustainable solutions for the future energy system, taking into account technological, regulatory and economic requirements. The topic portfolio is based on three central systems: Public Energy Supply Systems, Industrial Energy Systems and Cities & Built Environment.

In the pursuit of decarbonising the energy infrastructure, heavy industry and the mobility sector, our researchers from the Competence Unit “Energy Conversion & Hydrogen” are working on sustainable and efficient technologies for the production of renewable energy as well as promising energy carriers such as green hydrogen and its derivates (synthetic gases/ fuels).

 

JUNIOR SCIENTIST (M/F/D) GREEN HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGIES

CENTER FOR ENERGY

 

You will work on the sustainable production of green hydrogen and its derivates from renewable electricity.

You will develop materials such as novel OER and HER catalysts, device concepts, test set-ups or analytical methods for current and future electrolysis technologies such as PEM/ AEM or solid oxide.

You will independently take over the scientific coordination of specific work-packages or smaller national and international research projects.

 

You will disseminate your findings by participating at national and international conferences and publications in scientific journals.

Together with the project manager, you will develop and coordinate joint research topics with our strategic research and industrial partners – Hereby you will be able to continuously enhance your own knowledge and to build up a strong network.

You will work with your team to successfully implement our state-of-the-art solutions, methods and concepts in close cooperation with scientific and industry partners and contribute significantly to the extended use of hydrogen for the decarbonisation of energy infrastructure, heavy industry and the mobility sector.

Your results will contribute to the success of our research team and to our national and international reputation.

 

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

Completed studies (MSc or preferably PhD) in the field of chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical/process engineering, materials science, physics or similar fields

First experience in the field of electrochemistry, with respect to water electrolysis (PEM, AEM), photo-electrolysis, CO2 electrolysis or high temperature co-electrolysis (SOEC), including the execution of measurements and modelling of electrochemical techniques, such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, active area determination, etc. is advantageous.

Knowledge on materials synthesis, characterization and materials integration and testing in electrolyzers

Knowledge in acquisition of funded projects and project management would be an asset.

High level of commitment and team spirit

Very good verbal and written English & German skills

 

What to expect:

The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 53.578,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
