University Professor of Didactics of Chemistry

At the Faculty of Chemistry and the Centre for Teacher Education, the University of Vienna seeks to appoint a

University Professor of Didactics of Chemistry

(full time, limited to a period of 4 years, to fill as soon as possible)

The position:

The successful candidate’s responsibilities include representing the subject of chemistry didactics for students of the teacher education programme. The successful candidate is a recognised expert on state-of-the-art chemistry education and research in the field of chemistry didactics and has sufficiently broad knowledge on the basics of chemistry as appropriate for the field of subject-specific didactics. They contribute to the further development of research and teaching in the field of teacher education at the University of Vienna and are committed to this aim at the Faculty of Chemistry and at the Centre for Teacher Education.

The successful candidate has an extensive research portfolio in chemistry didactics, several years of sound experience of working in schools, strong commitment in teaching based on innovative and inclusive teaching and learning concepts, a wide range of experience in experimental practice as well as a strong command of digital media.

The University expects the successful candidate to offer an innovative programme in research and teaching in the field of chemistry didactics as well as to contribute to national and international collaborations. A key task of the successful candidate is to continue and further develop the newly established WiL2La laboratory in teaching and research.

· Doctoral degree/PhD

· Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record, international reputation

· Proven leadership qualities

· Experience in designing and managing large research projects

· Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level

· Willingness to take on organisational and administrative responsibilities within the Faculty/Centre and/or the University
