The Center for Innovation Systems and Policy is looking for new Ingenious Partners for our location in Vienna. Our Center for Innovation Systems and Policy is a think tank in national and international research and innovation networks, and it is a key partner for public administration, companies, universities, and research institutions.

The Competence Unit Transformation Governance addresses the question of how research and innovation, as well as their framework conditions, can be designed to best contribute to the solution of major societal challenges. Therefore, our scientists place a research focus on the design and analysis of instruments of research, technology and innovation policy and related policy areas, as well as questions of governance of socio-technical transformation processes. As part of our international and interdisciplinary Research Field Innovation Policy and Transformation, you will deal with current and future challenges in topics such as research, technology and innovation policy and societal transformation.

Junior Scientist (m/f/d) for Innovation and Policy Research (Part-Time: 30 hours / week)

Your responsbilities:

- You will contribute to developing projects in a team in close cooperation with national and international customers.

- You will apply qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical social research.

- Together with your team, you will work on current research topics such as design and implementation of transformative innovation policies (preferably focus on urban transformation and sustainability), multi-level governance and institutionalization, stakeholder engagement, policy experimentation, science-policy dialogues, intermediaries etc.

- You will prepare research results and communicate them to decision-makers in politics, business, and science.

- You will co-develop concepts for new solutions in the fields of research, technology and innovation policy.

- You will evaluate the transformative impact of existing innovation policies, programs, and initiatives.

- You will develop policy measures for research and innovation on the local, national and transnational level.

- You will publish results in scientific, policy oriented and social media channels.

- You will collect first experience in the acquisition of projects and make an important contribution in strengthening the relations with our customer and partner networks.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

- Master degree in a relevant social, economic, or political science or related fields

- First experience with different projects in the above-mentioned fields, experience with transdisciplinary work

- Good knowledge of Research and Innovation Policy and interest in applied research and innovation-oriented projects as well as transformative research

- Qualification or experience in the application of interactive formats, e.g., workshops, webinars, social media

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable policy recommendations

- Responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills

- Excellent written and spoken English, advanced German skills of advantage

What to expect:

The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 53.578,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
