Female University Assistant (Prae-Doc)
At the Institute of Production Engineering and Photonic Technologies, in the Research Group for Process Simulation TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to 3 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: August 2024. In case of suitable professional qualifications, the extent of employment can be increased to 40 hours per week from third-party funds of the Institute.
Tasks:
-Research and project activity in the field of simulation of laser-material processing within the project "Laser meets Synchrotron" (https://laser-meets-synchrotron.de/) and within cooperations with renowned companies
-(Co-)Supervision of BSc. and MSc. students
-Writing a dissertation and publications
-Participation in scientific events
-Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
-Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computational Science and Engineering, or a similar field
-Excellent knowledge of English
-First experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., C++), numerical methods or OpenFOAM is advantageous, but not strictly required
-German communication skills are highly advantageous
-Interest in simulation methods and laser-material processing
-Ability to work in a team, to solve problems, and willingness to learn new concepts
