Abstract
The learned correspondence of Austrian Benedictine historians Bernhard and Hieronymus
Pez has been the subject of scholarly efforts for more than fifteen years. This work began
with a traditional print edition, with two volumes published in 2010 and 2015 b y Böhlau in the
series Quelleneditionen des Instituts für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung (QIÖG). The
next step now consists in transforming the extant material into a digital scholarly edition while
establishing a framework for the print publication of the remaining volumes. This project sets
out to create the necessary software for such a workflow by defining and aligning the roles of
the involved parties: the research group, the series editor, the institutional repository, and the
publisher. The envisaged publication model can thus be reused for all future QIÖG editions,
allowing for a choice between print-only and hybrid modes.
