The European Partnership Water4All - Water Security for the Planet supports the systemic transformation of the research and innovation ecosystem for long-term water security and sustainable socio-economic development.

Target group

The funding program is aimed at researchers working in the field of water research at universities, non-academic research institutions, and research departments in related sectors.

Funding goals

The Water4All European Partnership aims to provide new knowledge and tools on water to enable evidence-based decision-making. Innovative approaches are to be used to secure the water supply in the long term and to increase citizens’ awareness and commitment in this area.

Funding period and funding amount

The maximum funding period is 36 months.

Information on the current call "Aquatic Ecosystem Services"

This call aims to support new transnational cooperation. The individual national (sub-) projects of the consortia are funded by the respective national funding organizations.

Each consortium submitting a proposal must consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of seven researchers eligible for funding by the participating organizations. The research team must include members from at least three different participating partner countries. One common document must be submitted to the Joint Call Secretariat by the coordinator, the consortium’s spokesperson.

Application information

A two-step process will apply: Projects must be pre-registered in a first step before full proposals can be submitted in the second step.

Pre-proposal (required) submission deadline: November 13, 2023, 2:00 pm (Vienna local time)
Full-proposal submission deadline: April 29, 2024
Funding decision: estimated September 2024

In addition to the application submitted to the Call Secretariat, pre-proposals must also be registered online with the FWF at https://elane.fwf.ac.at by November 13, 2023, 2:00 pm (Vienna local time). Pre-proposals can be registered under the program category “PIK – International Projects (pre-proposal).”
