The proposed seminar will bring together the Japanese and Austrian researchers in
set theory, strengthen the existing collaborations and facilitate future joint projects. In
particular, we will work on the following topics:
_ Forcing and Large Cardinals
_ Set Theory of the Continuum
_ Forcing and De_nability
_ Applications in Topology.
The two groups have complimentary expertise in these areas and will bene_t greatly
from intensi_ed collaboration.
The seminar will take place at Kobe University, Japan, from January 23rd to 29th
2012. The Austrian (FWF) side will fund travel costs of 10 Austrian participants (two
other Austrian and _ve third country participants will have their travel costs covered
from other sources).
The seminar will bene_t the whole Austrian set theory community. The Austrian participants
will include the most senior Austrian set theorists (Sy-David Friedman, director
of the Kurt G odel research center of the University of Vienna, and Martin Goldstern,
head of the DMG algebra group at TU Wien) as well as many young researchers (mainly
young postdocs, and an an advanced PhD student).
