Together with the Austrian research platform Österreich forscht, the FWF is hosting a Citizen Science Workshop for researchers interested in incorporating citizen science (CS) aspects into their research work. The event is also designed for researchers who would like to submit a proposal to the FWF for a Top Citizen Science (TCS) expansion project.

Citizen science refers to the active participation of citizens in research projects. This participation can take many different forms and occur at different stages of the research process.

The workshop is intended to provide an overview of citizen science in general and to introduce the 2025 TCS call for proposals. It will cover a mix of theoretical and practical aspects, and there will definitely be plenty of time for discussion and questions. The aim of the workshop is to provide researchers with professional support in implementing citizen science (CS) projects.

Speakers

  • Daniel Dörler (BOKU, Citizen Science Network Austria and Plattform Österreich forscht),
  • Florian Heigl (BOKU, Citizen Science Network Austria and Plattform Österreich forscht) and
  • Gerit Oberraufner (FWF, Program Manager TCS).
