Due to inflation and the resulting higher costs for research projects, the FWF is increasing the funding limit that determines the number of reviews required for a proposal submitted on or after July 1, 2023: Previously, two reviews per proposal were required up to a requested funding amount of €400,000. The FWF is now increasing this amount to €450,000. In the future, three international reviews will be required for proposals requesting funding of €450,000 to €650,000; for each additional increase of €200,000 in the amount of funding applied for, one additional review will be required.

These increases affect all FWF programs where the number of reviews required depends on the amount of funding applied for, including Principal Investigator Projects, International Programs, the Arts-Based Research program (PEEK), and Clinical Research.
