Emerging Fields: Start of the Second Round of Calls

The second round of calls for proposals for Emerging Fields funding opens on January 13, 2025. The second track of the excellent=austria initiative is aimed at teams of outstanding researchers who are doing pioneering work in basic research and are prepared to depart from established approaches. The focus is on funding research that has the potential to open up a new field of research, transform a field of research, and/or bring about a paradigm shift within or across disciplines. Teams of three to seven internationally outstanding researchers working at one or more Austrian research institutions can submit their proposals until March 31, 2025.

Improvements and lessons learned implemented

The Emerging Fields decision-making process was recently evaluated and given a positive review by external experts. Some of the recommendations on partial aspects offered in the report are already being applied in the second call for proposals.
