PhD position

Nanomembranes for in-situ removal of products from fermentation broth

in Vienna / Austria for 30 hours a week

That’s the project

Membrane-based separation methods are an ideal choice for in-situ product removal to prevent product inhibition during fermentation. Potential problems are fouling and concentration polarization, two effects, which are inherent to membrane processes, but their impact can be reduced using self-standing ultrathin nanomembranes. The in-situ separation of organic compounds from a fermentation process is one key step to a sustainable and economic biobased industry. Objective of the PhD position is the optimization of nanomembranes for the desired separation problem.
