Postdoc position in Leukemia Research

Cellular and molecular biology, genetics, immunology
Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Vetmeduni Vienna

The ERC-funded team of Veronika Sexl at the VetmedUni in Vienna is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to work on

Targeting CDK6 in leukemogenesis

The cell cycle kinase CDK6 has recently been identified as transcriptional regulator in the hematopoietic system. A detailed mechanistic understanding of the transforming mechanisms driven by CDK6 is required to develop optimal therapeutic strategies.

The group

The research team of Veronika Sexl is using a multidisciplinary approach consisting of proteomics, genomics, shRNA-/CRISPR-Cas9- and drug screening in advanced cell line- and mouse models. By combining wet-lab- and bioinformatics approaches we constantly gain novel insights in the molecular basis of leukemia development (e.g. see Bellutti et al, Cancer Discovery, 2018, doi: 10.1158/2159-8290.CD-17-0912)

The ERC-team is embedded in the existing infrastructure of the Institute of Pharmacology at the VetmedUni Vienna, a leading University ranking at place 5 within in the International Shanghai ranking. The wider network of the group is constituted by several close national and international collaborations.

The candidate

We are looking for a motivated researcher who holds a PhD (DVM, MD or equivalent) degree and has an excellent track record in cancer research, cellular and molecular biology, genetics or immunology, as documented by relevant publications in the field. Previous work experience with proteomics- and/or NGS methods is a plus. The successful candidate is an individual thinker who is ambitious and self-driven. Excellent organizational skills and written and oral communication skills in English are required.

If you are a curious, flexible and social person who is interested to work in an interdisciplinary team you should look into this opportunity.
