Dissecting the Role of HDAC1 in T-cell Lymphoma

 

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join the team of Gerda Egger at the Department of Pathology in Vienna, Austria.

 

Project

The project is funded by the FWF as an international project between Austria and the Czech Republic. By using state-of the art epigenomic and proteomic analyses we aim to decipher the role of histone deacetylases for a rare T-cell lymphoma (anaplastic large cell lymphoma). We will investigate the effects of genetic deletion of HDACs or pharmacological inhibition with HDAC inhibitors in an oncogene driven lymphoma model to identify putative tumor suppressive mechanisms of HDACs in early T cell development.

 

The Egger lab

Our lab focuses on epigenomics in tumor biology. By using patient samples and preclinical models we aim to understand how epigenetic alterations are involved in tumor development and progression. In a translational approach, we use this knowledge to develop epigenetic biomarkers and potential epigenetic therapies.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

• Master’s degree in life sciences (molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or similar)

• Background in mouse genetics and epigenomics are beneficial

• Experience in standard molecular biology techniques

• Interest in –omics data analysis

• Excellent English skills

• Motivation to work in an international, transdisciplinary team

 

The position is available for 3 years, with immediate start possible. Salary will be based on rates of the Austrian Science Foundation (FWF).
